College & Career Readiness
WELCOME TO COLLEGE & CAREER READINESS AT SPJUSD
Sierra-Plumas Joint Unified School District is dedicated to providing equitable opportunity and access to programs that prepare students for careers and for postsecondary programs such as university, community college, trade schools, and the work world. College and Career Readiness (CCR) is a measure that is used by the State of California known as the College Career Indicator (CCI) and helps our schools ensure that we are meeting the post-high school goals for all of our students, whether heading off to college or moving directly into the world of work.
Our high school course schedules at both Loyalton and Downieville High Schools are built to ensure that any student taking a college course for dual/concurrent enrollment or an online course has a dedicated period in their schedule for that course. Additionally, our Online Learning Specialist consistently progress monitors, supports, and communicates with students and parents/guardians to ensure students are successful as they navigate the digital platforms and learning models.
Our College & Career Readiness Team is dedicated to providing the following services to our students:
- Career and College Exploration
- ASVAB, SAT (In-School), PSAT, and Career/Aptitude Testing
- Career Fairs
- FFA and Agriscience Local and State Competitions and Field Trips
- Work-Based Learning (Job Shadows, Unpaid Internships, Paid Internships)
- College & Career Counseling Services
Concurrent/Dual Enrollment and Online Courses
- Courses at Sierra College, Lassen College, and Feather River Community College
- Additional a-g (UC/CSU approved) courses, CTE, and Advanced Placement courses through K12 and Edmentum online learning systems
Career Technical Education Pathways (through in-person and online courses) leading to careers in:
- Agriscience (In-person)
- Computer Science (online pathway)
- Emergency Services (Hybrid of online and in-person instruction)
- Millworking, Woodworking, and Cabinetmaking (In-person)
- Ornamental Horticulture (In-person)
- Patient Care (Hybrid of online and in-person instruction)
