Public Notice of Vacancy and Provisional Appointment

A vacancy occurred on the Board of Trustees of the Sierra-Plumas Joint Unified School District for District 5 with the resignation of Trustee Dorie Gayner on January 16, 2024, due to holding incompatible offices.
The Board of Trustees made a provisional appointment of Richard Jaquez to fill the vacancy. The appointment is effective as of February 13, 2024.
Unless a petition calling for a special election containing a sufficient number of signatures (Education Code 5092) is filed in the office of the Sierra County Superintendent of Schools within 30 days of the date of the provisional appointment, it shall become an effective appointment.
